USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS
Since millions and millions of people surf the net everyday, it’s not surprising that a lot of companies make use of the Internet to promote their products and services. One of the most popular strategies they use is promoting through social media. Why? Well, you have to admit that almost everybody has signed up somewhere – Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and others. People use it to connect with people, for entertainment, for work and a whole lot more.
If you’re asking how these brands use social media, well there are many ways. Social media platforms are all about ‘sharing’ (Sharing photos, status updates, videos, etc.). When a company posts, say an enticing picture of their product, many of their followers or fans would definitely ‘Like’, ‘Share’, ‘Tweet’, etc. about it. And there you have it! Instant promotion that could reach more people than simple print ads could achieve.
If you have a business and you’re just about to enter the world of the so-called “social media marketing”, here are some pointers that you could use for your brand to gain a web presence.
ü POST CLEAR IMAGES – People love to be visually entertained. They won’t like your post if it’s not a good shot, or if they can’t identify the image. If you’re going to post pictures, make sure they are clear and easy to the eyes.
ü TRY TO BE A LITTLE MORE PERSONAL – Whenever you update your status or post anything, refrain from being too formal. Keep in mind that social media is like ‘informal socializing’. Be more engaging by ‘talking’ to people about your service or product. Imagine you are talking to a friend and you’ll definitely have more comments or likes than you expect.
ü BE UPDATED – Remember that it’s not all about you. Social media is always about ‘what’s in’ and ‘now’. So better be updated with the latest happening and incorporate this with your brand. Another good thing about keeping things updated with your account is that people are more likely to visit you again and again.
ü ADD MORE FRIENDS AND FOLLOW INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE – Spread the word about your brand by adding more people and influential ones (ex. Celebrities, Politicians, etc.). The bigger your circle is, the more your brand is likely to be known.
