THINGS YOU SHOULD LEARN ON YOUR 20S blog
Our generation is probably the best generation of all time. When we were younger we have experienced the simplicity of life; we have thought that pogs battles were the hardest battles that we would ever encounter in life and choosing Bulbasaur over Charmander is the dumbest decision ever. But as we age, we were exposed to how a tiny robot called Android makes life better for us. Til then, we have come to a conclusion that there is more to life than simplicity. And that the generation that we have now is the thinking generation.
Part of the thinking generation who are in their 20s now are actually just floating, swaying and going with the flow of life. Sounds fun, right? But what those 20s people are missing out is that their 20s is their defining decade. When we are just in our 20s, we think that we have all the time in the world. Having graduated from college and starting anew in our first jobs, we think that it’s okay to throw the last care that we can ever give.
Tell you what, being 20 something is the best feeling that you will ever feel in your life. But that doesn’t mean that you are excused from being responsible. The things that you do now are the things that will become a habit for you. Starting with the right foot on the earliest time possible will surely give you a liberating feeling when you reach the age of thirty. You should:
- Take responsibilities. You are no longer a child, that’s obvious. But the thought of taking full responsibility over your life has not yet sunk in your lobes. However, you should not rush to reach the summit. People in their 20s are in a hurry to get where they want to be: done from school, have high-paying salary jobs, in an established relationship, etc. Working, however, will give you a different kind of responsibility. More than a responsibility, working gives you satisfaction that you are now responsible with your life.
- Get your dream job. Investing in your career now will make your life so much easier when you are already in your 30s. Learn as much as you can and keep on pursuing your dreams. It’s okay to resign. Don’t waste time in a job you hate. You will spend more of your time in the office. Don’t waste your time doing something that you don’t love. It’s like breathing for the sake of nothing. Find a job that you are excited to go to every morning.
- Take relationships seriously. Taking relationships seriously means giving as much time as you can for the people you value -- spend time with your family, have a couple of drinks with your friends and don’t forget to say I love you to your partner every day. Your 20s is the best time when you should be learning how to have healthy relationships. Remember that even if we have smartphones in our hands, Android and Siri could not be able to give us the most sensible advices when we actually need them.
Your 20s will just fly by. Before you know it, you’re already 30. What you do today will be the things that you will do after your formative years. Be sure that you are spending your time wisely.
